Contribution to the Field 2009

Early career 2009
We define early career as those working in the first three years following full-time education.
Early Career membership is showing strong growth (it is a new category) and we separated it from individual membership and lowered the fee as part of our commitment to supporting new researchers and practitioners as they start their careers in our field.

The judges argued strongly for the celebration of four candidates in this category each of whom demonstrated a high standard of academic excellence in their submission.

  We have long recognised and celebrated the dedication of peer reviewers and the final issue of Regional Studies each year lists all those who have refereed for us and from time to time we pick out the most outstanding contributions during the year based on completeness of response, knowledge of the field, timeliness etc. This year we have three winners:

  • John Mikel Zabala-Iturriagagoitia, Lund University, Sweden;
