Introduced to celebrate excellence, our winners for the 2009 RSA Awards are:

Contribution to the Field 2009
Professor Ann Markusen, University of Minnesota, USA

Early career 2009
We define early career as those working in the first three years following full-time education.
Early Career membership is showing strong growth (it is a new category) and we separated it from individual membership and lowered the fee as part of our commitment to supporting new researchers and practitioners as they start their careers in our field.

The judges argued strongly for the celebration of four candidates in this category each of whom demonstrated a high standard of academic excellence in their submission.

Alasdair Rae, Sheffield University, UK,
Franz Huber, University of Cambridge, UK and
Pautz Hartwig, Glasgow Caledonian University, UK
